President and Founder
Alissa Helgesen is president and founder of Circle Realty Advisors, which was established to provide institutional-quality commercial real estate investment services to companies seeking entrepreneurial solutions. Drawing on a commercial real estate career spanning more than 20 years, Ms. Helgesen has gained the transaction experience, market knowledge, industry contacts and entrepreneurial drive to launch a successful boutique real estate advisory firm.
Prior to establishing Circle Realty Advisors, Ms. Helgesen was vice president of acquisitions and dispositions for Duke Realty Corporation, one of the largest commercial real estate companies in the United States. There she gained extensive strategic transaction experience with office, industrial and retail assets in markets such as, greater Ohio, Chicago, Indianapolis, St. Louis and the Twin Cities. Ms. Helgesen completed transactions totaling more than $734 million and was a member of Duke's management committee.
Prior to joining Duke Realty Corporation, Ms. Helgesen was vice president of dispositions for Equity Office Properties Trust, the nation's largest publicly traded office building owner and manager. For Equity Office she negotiated and closed transactions totaling more than $375 million. Ms. Helgesen also held the position of asset manager for both Equity Office Properties Trust and Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in Chicago, where she practiced portfolio management, budgeting, leasing strategy and other value-enhancing techniques.
Ms. Helgesen holds a Bachelor's degree in Real Estate Finance, with high honors, from the University of Illinois-Champaign and a Master's degree in Real Estate Appraisal and Investment Analysis from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Affiliations include, National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (2005/6 NAIOP Board Member), CREW Chicago (2007/8 Member of the Programs and Membership Committees), Association of Industrial Real Estate, and the University of Wisconsin and Illinois Alumni Associations. Ms. Helgesen is a licensed real estate broker in Illinois. For the year 2006/7, Ms. Helgesen was elected Treasurer of the Board for Save-A-Pet, a not-for-profit animal charity.
